How to Tan Safely and Effectively Based on Your Skin Type: A Guide for isletan tanning gel

Achieving a beautiful, sun-kissed tan doesn’t mean risking sunburn or damaging your skin. At isletan, we want to help you tan smarter—not harder. One of the most common mistakes we see is skipping sunscreen or spending too much time in the sun too soon, especially when using tanning accelerators like our outdoor tanning gel.

That’s why we’ve created this simple guide to help you understand your skin type and build a safe, effective tanning routine. Whether you're fair-skinned or naturally darker, following the right steps and timing your sun exposure can make all the difference in how fast and evenly you tan—while keeping your skin healthy and glowing.

Step 3: Tanning Tips for Best Results

Always apply sunscreen first, wait 5–10 minutes, then apply the tanning gel generously.

Never tan during peak UV hours (11 AM – 2 PM).

Build your tan slowly over time. Rushing increases the chance of burning or uneven color.

Moisturize daily—hydrated skin tans deeper and holds color longer.

Drink plenty of water to support skin hydration from the inside out.
